I’m beginning to think I’m just a terrible blogger and should give up. But never fear! My inane ramblings are here to stay! Here’s an update on everything that’s been going on in my life and writing.
The semester is over. Finally. And so is grad school. That’s another post in itself, but suffice it to say that I’m pooped, sad, and happy all at the same time, which is an interesting mix of emotion to say the least. I still have my thesis to work on, though, so that will keep me occupied while I job hunt. I might start posting short excerpts of the novel and see what everyone thinks. I’m still hard at work on my reading list — I just haven’t posted about it in a while. Will get those up shortly.
NEAT. is still fantastic. We have lots of plans for the future. We’re getting ready to put out our fourth issue, marking almost a whole year since this whole shebang got started. I feel strangely nostalgic as I read our submissions. I’m looking forward to the years to come with TM and Alex. I discovered my least favorite part of magazine editing the other day, though:
It really is the worst/best thing — so much good work comes to us, and if we published everything we wanted to, the magazine would be 300 pages. I keep telling myself it’s a good problem to have!
I’m taking on a new project this summer with Alex (who edits this fantastic blog), which I’m excited about. He and I, along with a strong group of editors and artists, are taking a look at The Wendigo, Algernon Blackwood’s 1910 horror novella about the mythological creature. That’s all I’ll say about it for now, but look for updates in the future.

I’m also neck-deep in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Yes, that is the MMORPG. Yes, I’m a giant nerd. No, I’m not ashamed of it. The game is so much fun. I’ve found a group of people to play with that I mesh well with, including Husband, my bro, and one of our best friends. I have a million other things to do, but relaxing with a video game is something I haven’t been able to do since high school. It’s nice.
Well I think that’s all for now. Later this weekend maybe I will put up my reading list backlog and an excerpt from the novel. Thanks for keeping tabs on me, Readers!
