Day One of my new job! I already love it. I have my own computer and desk and my coffee cup is sitting here nicely beside me as I type (lunch break!). I also got a neat water tumbler and have been diligently drinking water all day (excuse me while I go to the restroom real quick . . .).
Okay, back. It’s clear after a day of training that meeting my quota of written articles/words for the month (not sure what that is, yet, but it’s gonna be a LOT) is going to be super important. I can’t wait to get started researching and writing stuff.
I had an epiphany this morning. Working in the “real world” is just like going to school. It’s hard work. It requires research and writing and things I’m not always comfortable with but that I overcome somehow. This isn’t new for me–it’s just Different (yes, with a capital D).
I think I’m going to like it here. I’m excited to see where this takes me, and I’m pumped about finding a job doing what I want to do so quickly. This is, quite literally, what I went to school for.
More updates as they come. Now I have to update my biography on here . . . I’m no longer looking for work in Chicago . . . I found it!
